6,000 Emirati students to study in America and Canada

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, the Department of Education and Knowledge launched the “Khotwa” program to send Emirati students to study in American and Canadian community colleges and international universities at a total cost of 1.9 billion dirhams. (One billion nine hundred million dirhams), with the aim of developing and strengthening national competencies, providing students with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of the future, enabling them to achieve their full potential and contributing to advancing the development of the knowledge-based national economy.

The Department of Education and Knowledge, through the “Step” program, seeks to send up to 6,000 Emirati male and female students who meet the program’s easy conditions to continue their university studies in the United States of America and Canada, where the Abu Dhabi government will cover all student scholarship costs.

This remarkable step is a pioneering initiative to develop the skills of Emirati youth and push them forward to develop their educational and life skills and provide the business sector with more creative energies that contribute to advancing the development process in the UAE.
