New Law – Illegal for bosses to text workers after hours in Portugal Get Golden Visa launches bid to help digital nomads enjoy this benefit

Remote workers in Portugal could see a healthier work-life balance under new labour
laws approved by the country’s parliament. The new rules approved on Friday are a
response to the explosion of home working as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Get
Golden Visa launches a bid to help digital nomads enjoy this benefit.
As Get Golden Visa Partner, Werner Gruner says: “In today’s world, many employees can
work from home, from their place in the sun, benefitting of the balanced lifestyle most of
us could have only dreamt of pre-covid. Covid has triggered a mind-shift. It forced a
change in mindset.”

Under the new rules, employers could face penalties for contacting workers outside of
office hours. Companies will also have to help pay for expenses incurred by remote
working, such as higher electricity and internet bills.
With many employees working remotely, a fast internet connection has almost become
more valuable than a short commute to work or being in the vicinity of customers.
Previously the workplace determined where they lived, often in metropolitan areas
where affordable housing is becoming increasingly scarce.
Murat Coskun, Founder of Get Golden Visa says: “The pandemic has had a positive
impact on the world as we knew it. It has contributed to a better work-life balance with
digital nomads looking to relocate to Portugal. The new Portuguese law approved by
parliament last week is a testament to the work-life balance the country offers. In the
last few days alone, Get Golden Visa has seen a sharp uptake in web traffic and inquiries
from digital nomads wanting to apply for golden visas looking for a place in the sun and
a better-quality lifestyle.”
Portugal will continue to be one of the most popular countries in the world for residency
through investment whether in property or funds. The program started in October 2012
and since then almost ten thousand applicants have received their Golden Visas.
Portugal loves to welcome different cultures – it’s in their DNA to make bridges between
nationalities and continents.
